Vintage Carhartt

Work trousers, cargos, jackets, tees and the odd polo, no two the same. Carhartt's what people come to us for when they want something built to be worn hard, and most of what we find has been.

Workwear's the one place where wear genuinely isn't a fault. Double knee trousers were made with a second layer across the knee because whoever owned them knelt on them, so a faded panel or a softened cuff is what a properly used pair looks like. We describe and photograph all of it. We also measure the waist flat rather than trusting the number on the tag, because thirty years of washing moves a garment a long way from its label.

For workwear trousers from every label, see vintage pants, and for outerwear have a look at vintage jackets. If you want the same kind of thing from elsewhere, try vintage Dickies.

Common questions

What does double knee mean on Carhartt trousers?
Double knee means work trousers built with a second layer of fabric across the knee so they'd survive kneeling work. Wear across that panel is expected on a used pair and won't shorten the life of the trousers.

Is worn workwear worth buying?
For most people, absolutely. Carhartt duck canvas softens and fades with use rather than falling apart, so a worn pair is usually more comfortable than a new one. Anything with a hole, a mark or a repair gets described and photographed before it sells.

How accurate is the labelled waist size?
Treat it as a starting point and no more. We measure the waist flat on every pair and give you the real number, because an old garment rarely still matches the size printed on its tag.
