Vintage Pants

Work trousers, cargos, jeans and tracksuit pants. It splits about evenly between hard-wearing workwear, denim, and the sports and track pants that came out of the 90s.

Pants are the easiest thing on the site to buy online, because most pieces are labelled in waist inches rather than small, medium and large. That said, an old waist measurement isn't always honest after decades of wear and washing, so we measure the waist flat and give you the real number. If a hem's been taken up, a knee's worn thin or a seam's been repaired, we've described it and photographed it. On workwear especially, wear at the knee and cuff is just what a used pair looks like.

Most of these come from vintage Carhartt, with sports and track pants through vintage Nike and vintage Umbro. Everything else sits in the full range.

Common questions

Is the waist size on the label accurate?
Not always, which is exactly why we measure it ourselves. Decades of wear and washing move an old garment away from its labelled size, so use the measured waist we've listed rather than the number stamped on the tag.

What's double knee, and does the wear matter?
Double knee means work trousers with a second layer of fabric across the knee, put there so they'd survive kneeling work. Wear across that panel is expected on a genuinely used pair and it won't shorten the life of the trousers.

Can the length be altered?
Usually, yes. Most trousers and jeans here have enough hem for a tailor to take them up. Letting a leg down is trickier, because the original hemline often leaves a permanent mark on old fabric.
