Another of the blanks that carried other people's graphics. What reaches us under this label is a mix of tees and heavyweight sweatshirts printed for shows, sports championships, novelty designs and promotions.
The sweatshirts are the ones to watch. The heavier cotton fleece from this period holds its shape and weight decades on, which is why plain examples get bought as blanks in their own right. On the tees, the neck tag is what places a shirt in time, and we photograph it on every listing beside the print. Both tees and sweatshirts from this era run shorter in the body than you'd expect today, so have a look at the measurements.
For every print we've got, browse vintage t-shirts and vintage sweatshirts. The other blank we get a lot of is vintage Hanes.
Common questions
Why are old sweatshirt blanks so sought after?
Because the cotton fleece was heavier than most of what's made today and it survives decades of wear without thinning. That weight is why people buy plain vintage sweatshirts as happily as printed ones.
Does the tag tell me the age?
Roughly. Blank makers changed their neck labels repeatedly, so a tag narrows a piece to a period rather than a year. We photograph it on every listing so you can place it yourself.
How should I wash old fleece?
Cold, inside out, and hang it to dry. Heat shrinks aged cotton fleece and cracks printed graphics, and you won't get either back once it's happened.
